Our Christmas plans 2013

There are only 12 weeks until Christmas!!! I have just got my eldest daughters birthday out the way, then tomorrow its October, this year is just running away.  Ive started to plan Christmas already, we always take our kids to see Santa and do some Christmas shopping for all the family presents. Ive already made a start on the kids presents, I buy most of them online and have them delivered when they are at school.

This year we have chosen to take the children up to London for the day to meet Father Christmas at the Harrods Grotto.  There is no cost involved apart from a £10 booking deposit which you get back on the day to spend in Harrods, admittedly you wont get an awful lot for your money.  Harrods looks amazing at Christmas, makes sure you visit later in the day to see the Christmas lights.

We will combine it with a tour of the big shops to see the lights and a trip to Hamleys of course. It takes about 2 hours to get to London by train so we will find a cheap London Hotel to stay the night, and then head back home the next day.

Nearer to Christmas we are taking the kids to see another Father Christmas at Longleat Safari Park. It really is magical there, a train takes you to the grotto where you are greeted by reindeer and elves.  They also have a huge singing Christmas tree that lights up in time with the music, outside ice skating and a Christmas market. Luckily it is only down the road from us and we have a yearly ticket to the safari park.  We are going here on the 22nd December so its really going to get us into the spirit ready for the holidays.

What do you have planned for Christmas? Will you be taking your children to visit a Santa? Maybe your going away for a sunny holiday? My next jobs in preparation are to make a start on my chutneys, as I give them away as gifts and to make my Christmas chocolate fruit cake.
